The Great BC Shakeout— the world’s largest ‘Drop, Cover and Hold On’ earthquake drill— is coming up on October 17 at 10:17 am. You might have an earthquake kit, but are you really prepared? A major earthquake could potentially disrupt emergency services and utilities for days or even weeks.
British Columbia has the highest earthquake risk in Canada. Southwestern BC, including the North Shore, are at the highest risk within BC. Join North Shore Emergency Management, FortisBC, BC Hydro and ShakeOut BC for an interactive and educational program on earthquake preparedness. There will be an overview on basic emergency planning, emergency kits for your family, as well as energy safety information and tips on how to prepare specifically in the event of an earthquake.
