Great Bear: Film and Discussion

Directed by Bruce Marchfelder Great Bear tells the story of a Coastal First Nations led collaboration with researchers from leading academic universities provides remarkable insights into the importance of bears and other keystone species to the ecosystems of the Great Bear Rainforest.

Following the film Ross Dixon from the Raincoast Conservation Foundation will introduce Raincoast's Save the Great Bears campaign to end trophy hunting throughout the Great Bear Rainforest.

This event is brought to you in partnership with the Elders Council for Parks in British Columbia. They are an independent non-profit society whose members are retired parks system employees and conservation advocates who have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to parks and protected areas in BC. The society provides a way for their members to continue to lead and participate in volunteer projects aimed at ensuring the long-term well-being of BC’s world-class park systems.
