E-Cargo Bikes

E-Cargo Bike Program

In partnership with District of North Vancouver and City of North Vancouver, Evolve E-Bike Share is launching an e-cargo bike pilot program on the North Shore; the first of its kind in British Columbia.

Supported by BC Hydro and LandlordBC, the pilot will run from now until October 2024, with a restart in March 2025 through October 2025. The pilot is designed as a free, short-term lending program for riders aged 18 and older. The e-cargo bikes can be booked ahead through the Evo app.

How to borrow an e-cargo bike

Eight e-cargo bikes are available at six locations across the North Shore, including our Capilano, Lynn Valley, and Parkgate Libraries, as well as the North Vancouver City Library and two multi-unit residential buildings in the City of North Vancouver.

Same-day rentals from your local libraries are available during the pilot program. You can pick-up and drop-off your e-cargo bike within 30 minutes after the library opens and up to 30 minutes before it closes.

To book your bike:

  1. Download the Evo app and sign up: Select ‘e-bikes/e-scooters’ (if you don’t need to access car sharing), allowing you to skip driver’s license requirements.

  2. Book an e-cargo bike: Choose the ‘Evo Return’ option in-app to find an available bike. Select your desired date and time to book up to 30 days in advance.

  3. Pick up the bike: Present your booking confirmation in-person at the library welcome desk (at your reserved time and location) to collect the keys, helmets and other accessories.

  4. Review safety instructions: Check safety instructions on-site or online, wear a helmet, and start riding.

  5. Return the bike: Lock the e-cargo bike to the same location you picked it up from and return the keys at the library welcome desk at least 30 minutes prior to closing. Late returns and no-shows may result in charges to your Evo account.
