Set in the turmoil of newly-post apartheid South Africa, Arianna Dagnino’s The Afrikaner is the story of Zoe Du Plessis, a woman scientist of Afrikaner descent who, through a personal tragedy, is led to face her family’s dark secret while struggling with the self-reproach for her country’s shameful past.
About Arianna:
Arianna Dagnino currently lectures in Italian Studies and conducts research in the fields of Transcultural Studies and Translation Studies at the University of British Columbia after earning a PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of South Australia and a SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa School of Translation.
