Capilano Universe Lecture Series - Hope: A Path to a Sustainable Future

Come listen to longtime psychology researcher, therapist, and professor Janet Waters!

Climate solutions depend on us. We got ourselves into this mess and it’s up to us to get us out. Through hope—rather than despair—and determination—rather than helplessness—we can make the changes needed for a sustainable future. Ecopsychology is a science that can help us understand why we messed up our home so badly, and how we can change our values, attitudes, behaviour and lifestyles for environmental sustainability, human and animal well-being. Come to this talk on conservation psychology and learn how you can do your part to change our future.

About Dr. Janet Waters:

Dr. Waters has been teaching psychology at Capilano University since 1987 and has also been a researcher and a therapist for over 35 years. She is interested in what helps people heal, grow, create, imagine, thrive and achieve their potential. Waters also teaches conservation psychology, applying what psychology knows about how people think, feel and interact to understand our treatment of the environment and how to encourage sustainable behaviour.
