Financial Literacy: Consumerism

Consumerism is the equating of personal happiness with the buying and consuming of material things. Many of us are surrounded by messages encouraging us to have an insatiable appetite for stuff and to indulge the desire for immediate gratification. I want it, I deserve it, and I will buy it right now. That is consumerism.

Join us and find out how to take back your power as a consumer. We will discuss:
  • The Power of Advertising
  • What's Creating Your Desire to Buy
  • Consumer Rights & Responsibilities
  • Impulse Buying
  • Adopt the 7-Step Model and Take Control of Your Money

Presented by Joanne Monteiro. Joanne is enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and financial literacy in particular. She holds a MBA in finance and a diploma in teaching and has worked in the corporate world before venturing into educational services specializing in ESL training.
