Health + Wellness Month: Fibromyalgic Pains, Jaw Pain and Fear of Movement

Join us for a Health + Wellness month program!

Discover how to start to move again with confidence and less contraction at the Library! Learn how to start your journey to recovery and wellbeing, and seek relief from conditions like fibromyalgia, sports injury, chronic pain or emotional pain and discomfort.

Fibromyalgia, as well as common back pain, is one name for  muscle spasm, contraction and muscular shortening, which happens in response to stimuli of everyday life and stress. In order to break the cycle of pain, one must try to relearn movements and rest rather than continue to exert the same effort. As a result, many people are afraid of exercise, fearful they will cause further injury or pain that could start a cycle that worsens the condition: "pain - fear  - lack of movement - muscular-skeletal degeneration". The Alexander Technique can help restore proper muscular tone, reaction, and kinesthetic sense which is responsible for our movement and relaxation and, overall health. Come learn about the F. M. Alexander Technique.
