Life on the Coast: Killer Whales of BC

Join Dr. Lance Barrett-Lennard to hear all about the different groups of killer whales that inhabit the waters off the B.C. coast.  We will learn about their habitat, behaviour, food sources, and what we can do to help protect them.

Dr Barrett-Lennard did a PhD at the University of British Columbia and served as a research scientist at Fisheries and Oceans Canada before starting as senior research scientist and director of the Marine Mammal Research Program at the Ocean Wise Conservation Association in 2001. In Dec. 2021 he joined the Raincoast Conservation Foundation to set up and co-direct a new cetacean conservation research program. Dr. Barrett-Lennard has conducted 32 seasons of field studies on killer whales in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. He has authored two theses and 66 scientific papers and book chapters on marine mammals, 50 of them specifically on killer whales.
