Reading the Contemporary: An Evening with Artist Emilie Crewe

Join us for a presentation and discussion with artist-in-residence Emilie Crewe, and the inaugural recipient of Griffin Art Projects’ North Shore Studio Art Residency Award!

Crewe’s current investigations are centered on “musical components and structure, with specific research geared towards the neuroscience of music and how our bodies and emotions respond to rhythm, timbre and contour”. Emilie Crewe (b. 1987, Québec City, Canada) is an interdisciplinary artist based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Her artwork often takes the form of video installation, single-channel video, multi-channel video, and sketch-work. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. Her work is exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, artist-run centres, experimental film/video festivals, and as public art.
