Reading the Contemporary: An Evening with Mary Tasi and Wade Baker

Join us for an evening with authors  Mary Tasi and Wade Baker!

Mary Tasi and Wade Baker present their journey of cultural research and their book The Hidden Journals. The book was presented to the Victoria Legislature for excellence in primary source research, bringing new perspectives to history. Through primary archival research and oral indigenous knowledge, the lost narratives of the Captain Vancouver era are highlighted through an indigenous perspective.

About Mary Tasi and Wade Baker

Tasi and Baker are both deep believers in art’s power to bring communities together. Through her city-planning and art consultancy, Tasi has worked with the City of North Vancouver and Squamish Nation to create the “Gateway to Ancient Wisdom” at the North Shore Spirit Trail. Baker, an oral history expert, sculptor and graphic designer, enjoys creating large public art sculptures influenced by the rich artistic legacy he inherited from his lineage of ancient Coast Salish, Kwakwaka'wakw, Tlingit, and Haida nobility.
