Thinking Matters with SFU Philosopher's Café host Reema Faris - Virtual

Put your philosopher's hat on and head into a Zoom call to discuss relevant social issues!

Come join our regular SFU Philosophers’ Café host Reema Faris for a discussion on topical social issues

  • January 24: It’s a new year! Reflecting on events of the past year and this past month, what are your predictions for 2022 as you survey the media landscape, the rollercoaster of politics, and the buzz and hype of culture and society?
  • February 28: You get a vote and you get a vote and you get a vote! BC municipal elections will be held on October 15, 2022. What are the top issues in your municipality and what are the major issues facing cities, towns, and districts in the next four years?
  • March 28: On the front lines! In this age of information saturation, with local news under threat, where are the lines between activism and journalism, truth and misinformation, consensus-building and polarization?
  • April 25: Teetering on the edge! One of the features of what many describe as late stage capitalism is that work has become increasingly precarious for many. What do you see as the opportunities and threats of the continuing changes to the structure of labour in our world and around the globe?
