Thinking Matters with SFU Philosopher's Café host Reema Faris - Virtual

Put your philosopher's hat on and head into a Zoom call to discuss relevant social issues!

Come join our regular SFU Philosophers’ Café host Reema Faris for a discussion on topical social issues

  • CANCELLED May 30: With the news that bombards us daily and the personal tragedies that unexpectedly arise, what role does grief play in our lives and how do we manage it in order to remain hopeful about the future?
  • June 27: It's Father's Day month -- yet another in the endless array of commercially-generated celebrations! Why are these events so successful, what inequities do they obscure, and should we be concerned about the idealized, normative standards they uphold?
  • July 25: July 1 was Canada Day and it was commemorated in the usual fashion. How did you mark the occasion and what are the issues you think about now when you think about Canada?

We’re hosting this virtual program on Zoom. What you’ll need to attend: A computer with microphone (or headphones) and webcam, or your smartphone/tablet.
