illume is for U and ME
Are you looking for a book that you can't find in our library catalogue? If the book you want was published over a year ago or is out-of-print, you can request that we bring it in for you from another library in the province.
In requesting an interlibrary loan, please note:

Our Library allows a maximum of 10 active interlibrary loan requests at any time. Please make only one request per title.

At this time, requests for print materials only are being accepted.

If the book was published in the last year or you're looking for an ebook, CD, DVD or magazine, we can't source it for you as an interlibrary loan, but please consider using our Suggest a Purchase form.
Items borrowed by interlibrary loan must be returned to one of our four library locations (Lynn Valley Library, Capilano Library, Parkgate Library, or Lions Gate Express Library).
How to Make an Interlibrary Loan Request
Here are the steps to making an interlibrary loan request:

Check our library catalogue to see if the title is available from NVDPL.

If we don't have the title, search the illume catalogue to see if it is available at another library in British Columbia. You can contact a librarian if you need help finding an item.

From the results list in illume, select your desired format (e.g., “Book” or “Large Print”).

If there are multiple results for the title you are looking for, select the record that has the most libraries listed as owning the title.

On the illume record for the title, click the “Request This Item” button. Take care to complete the request form as follows:

Create a Password | Enter the last four digits of your telephone number |

Patron Identifier/Last Name | Enter your last name (e.g., Smith) |
Tracking Your Interlibrary Loan Request
You can track the progress of your Interlibrary Loan requests at any time. In illume click “Guest ILL tracking” in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
In order to log in, please enter the following information from your original request(s):
illume field | What to type |

Password | Enter the password you created for your original request. This should be the last four digits of your telephone number. |
Name (Last, first) | Enter your last name, followed by your first name, as input in the “Patron's Identifier / Last Name” and “Patron’s First Name” fields of the request form. |
Please note that interlibrary loans can take two or more weeks to be delivered.
