SPECIAL Author Talk with Author Valerie Jerome – February 27, 2025
In honour of Black History Month, Valerie Jerome will discuss her memoir Races: The Trials & Triumphs of Canada's Fastest Family.
Raised in North Vancouver, Valerie Jerome reveals the remarkable story of her family's legacy in her book. Her Grandfather was Canada’s first Black Olympian, and her brother was one of the most recognizable Black Canadian athletes in the 1960s—his local legacy lives on through the naming of Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre.
In her book, Valerie sheds light on the racism they faced—from their community, the media, and the country at large. All are welcome to join—you don’t need to have read the book to enjoy this event.
