National Indigenous History Month

Vibrant watercolor splashes in yellow, orange, green, blue, and purple hues with a narwhal, an eagle, a moon, and the scroll of a violin integrated in. "National Indigenous History Month" is written to the left.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada.

Our libraries are located on the traditional territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nations. Their ancestors have lived here for countless generations. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect community, share knowledge and inspire stories on unceded Coast Salish Territory.
