Mama Me-Dia (Dad's welcome, too!)

Join us for our first Mama Me-Dia session on Media literacy and Youth, the Parents Guide!

With personal devices in the hands of more and more youth all the time, parents have to do a lot of work managing media systems, privacy and app selection for their children. Come to this session presented by Maryann Kempthorne, NVDPL's Manager of Innovation and Learning and a media librarian, to see how to manage the work and build your media literacy!

  • Be aware of the special cases for youth when it comes to media use and security
  • Build confidence enforcing their child’s right to privacy in their home and on mobile devices
  • Have some greater sense of how to set out rules and guidelines for use and access with the changing nature of kids and technology!

We will have a few door prizes to add to the learning as well. See you there!

Register online.

Traditional Chinese Culture

For some people, Chinese culture consists merely of kung fu, dragon dance, and Chinese food. However, the essence of China’s traditional culture – which goes back 5,000 years – is much more far-reaching and profound.

China was once known as the "Land of the Divine" and its people believed their culture was a gift from the heavens. Traditional Chinese culture is full of ethical values, virtues and spirituality. Join us to learn about:

• The essence of traditional Chinese culture and its values

• The exciting revival of the authentic culture and its relevance today
