Learn about how NaNoWriMo works and prepare for November!
Local author Frances Peck and one of our NVDPL librarians will be sharing tips for novel prep and other tricks of the trade for a successful National Novel Writing Month. Frances Peck has worked with words for three decades as an editor, ghostwriter, and educator. The Broken Places (NeWest Press, April 2022) is her first novel.
Join the NaNoWriMo Vancouver Region group for our 2022 National Novel Writing Month Kickoff Party!
It’s a chance to meet NaNoWriMo participants from across the Lower Mainland and hear about the in-person and online writing events coming up in November – plus there will be some nice NaNo swag.
The Kickoff Party will take place on Wednesday, October 26, starting at 7:20 p.m. after the library’s NaNoWriMo presentation and concluding at 8:20 p.m.
Write a novel over the course of 30 days! Yes, you can do it! Really!
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and NVDPL is here to support would-be-novelists’ dreams. How does it work? NaNoWriMo helps you start and continue the habit of daily writing. Throughout November, you can privately or publicly track how many words you write each day at
nanowrimo.org. It only takes writing 1,667 words each day to equal a 50,000 word novel — that’s roughly the length of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men!
The goal of NaNoWriMo is not to write the “perfect” novel, but to get you to write every day and try to finish the first draft of a novel. NVDPL will help you achieve this with a series of workshops and write-in sessions to make your writing habit a reality. NaNoWriMo is about inspiration and personal accountability, but it is not writing help or a writing critique workshop.
