Book buddies is a one-on-one reading program to help young readers get more comfortable.
We match up developing readers with teen volunteers to read together and play literacy games for 30 minutes each week. Book buddies is available for kids ages 6-11; participants must have access to the internet for their 30 minute online session.
In this virtual format, the supervising librarian(s) will be rotating between all nine buddy groups, so each pairing won’t be supervised the entire time. We recommend having a parent sticking around nearby to provide technical support if necessary!
Please note that this session will take place over Zoom. You will need a microphone and speakers, or a headset, in order to take part in the session.
