Virtual Author Talk with Erica Fyvie: Mad for Ads

Join us for a very special author event featuring 2022/23 Red Cedar Book Award nominated author Erica Fyvie.

In Mad For Ads: How Advertising gets (and stays) in our heads, Erica Fyvie takes a deep dive into the world of advertising and marketing. Mad For Ads will make you think about why you buy the things that you do and what makes something trendy. This book will teach you everything you need to know about the persuasive power of advertising and the importance of media literacy in today’s ad saturated world.

Erica Fyvie is a writer, editor, and school librarian. She attended the University of Guelph, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and drama. She received her master’s degree from York University in film. Her first book for Kids Can Press, Trash Revolution, won the Green Earth Book Award and the International Literacy Association's Children's and Young Adults' Book Award. Her most recent book, Mad for Ads, is nominated for a Red Cedar Book Award, which is BC's Young Readers’ Choice Award. She loves talking to young people about what they're reading. Erica lives in Toronto with her family, including two beloved pets: Marzipan the cat and Clover the dog.
