Red Cedar Book Club Chat - Virtual

Calling all Red Cedar booklovers!

Kids in grades 4-7 are invited to talk about Red Cedar nominated titles they have been reading this year. Register to attend our book club meeting via Zoom. We will talk about our favourite nominees and other great books you’ve been reading!

We’re hosting this virtual program on Zoom. What you’ll need to attend: A computer with microphone (or headphones) and webcam, or your smartphone/tablet. Space is limited. An email address is required for registration. We will email you the Zoom link in advance of the program.

Shakespeare Discussion Club: Love's Labour's Lost

Planning to attend one or more plays at Bard on the Beach this summer? Just a fan of Shakespeare, or completely new to his works? Drop in to one of our Shakespeare Discussion Clubs this spring, where we watch a film adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s plays, then discuss both the adaptation and original play afterwards.

  • Love’s Labour's Lost (2000)
    Wednesday, March 4 | 6:00pm-8:30pm OR Thursday, March 5 | 2:00pm-4:30pm

    A musical adaptation set in the 1930s! This movie tells the story of four best friends who swear off love. Starring: Kenneth Branagh, Nathan Lane, Adrian Lester, Matthew Lillard, Natascha McElhone, Alessandro Nivola, Alicia Silverstone, Timothy Spall.

CANCELLED: Spring Break Film Camp

NVDPL is proud to present Spring Break Film Camp! Are you a youth in grade 6-8 nterested in making movies? Film Camp is a 5-day school break program at the Library where students in grades 6, 7 or 8 come to work with others and develop filmmaking skills. Participants use filmmaking equipment and with the help of filmmaking educators from the Cinematheque come together to make great stories for the screen! 

Under the guidance of professionals from The Cinematheque, you'll learn:
  • how to use your creativity to define the content, the style, and the tone of your video
  • how to hone ideas into a clear message and story on screen
  • how to nurture it into a script and translate it into a compelling story
Due to the importance of teamwork daily attendance is mandatory. Lunch is not included but some snacks may be provided. Participation release required prior to start.
 
Fee for camp is: $290 for a general application
Financial assistance is available for North Vancouver District residents through the District of North Vancouver’s Youth In Film Program. Fee reductions are made available at the 50%, 75% or 100% level for participants with a reference that can support their need, which might be financial need, being member of an underrepresented community, persons with physical or perceptual disability.
